Washington, DC -- Ron
participated in an event to unveil "The Health
Report to the American People," an unprecedented
publication designed to inform Americans of the
basic facts of our health care system and generate
ideas from all citizens on how health care should
be reformed. Ron celebrated the release of this
report as an important step in the implementation
of the "Health Care That Works for All Americans"
law he wrote in 2003 with U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch
(R-Utah), which guarantees Congressional hearings
on the people's recommendations about reform.
Ron encouraged Oregonians and all Americans to
visit www.citizenshealthcare.gov and to participate
online and in community meetings
to share their opinions for improving the health
care system. This process, Ron explained "is
the American people's first chance to really bring
their own priorities and their own prescription
for improving health to the government's attention,
instead of the other way around. Then, Congress
will owe the people some answers," he said.
