Washington, DC– Ron encouraged commuting to work on two wheels instead of four at the 2006 Bike to Work Day event in Freedom Plaza, which is held during National Bike to Work Week. The event was sponsored by Washington Area Bicyclist Association and was attended by many regional and national bicycling organizations such as the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, Bikes Belong, the League of American Bicyclists and Rails to Trails Conservancy.

Ron has sponsored the Bicycle Commuter Act (S.2635), which would help provide increased tax incentives for bike commuters. The bill would amend the tax code so that public and private employers could offer employees incentives for riding bicycles to work similar to the benefits currently offered for using public transportation.
