STEARNS TO PRESENT THE $300,000 HE OBTAINED FOR CFCC AT A MONDAY NIGHT EVENT

STEARNS SECURED THE FUNDING TO RENOVATE THE FINE ARTS AUDITORIUM

WASHINGTON, FEB. 13, 2006 -  "The Central Florida Community College in Ocala meets the educational and professional needs of thousands of individuals in north central Florida," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala).  "Promoting the arts and having a venue for enjoying their performance benefits the students and faculty, as well as the entire community.  I am committed to working with CFCC in strengthening its programs, and I am proud that I was able to obtain this funding to renovate the school's Fine Arts Auditorium."

Stearns will present a check for $300,000 to the school during an event at the Fine Arts Auditorium at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 13th.  The check presentation precedes a performance by Piano4, a well-known piano quartet.

The CFCC auditorium is more than 40 years old and is one of the original buildings on campus.  The auditorium is an integral part of the community, hosting events 212 days of the year.  Stearns obtained this funding through the Economic Development Initiative (EDI) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Funding from EDI supports projects and activities that provide economic benefits in a community.
