WASHINGTON, FEB. 14, 2002 - "Meaningful reform of our campaign finance laws means going after soft money - and I tried to offer an amendment to ban all soft money," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "Not only does Shays/Meehan fail to reform soft money, it also violates our First Amendment right to free speech. This measure offers significant change without real reform."

WASHINGTON, FEB. 13, 2002 - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of Commerce, Trade & Consumer Protection Subcommittee, is holding a hearing to determine if current financial accounting standards are protecting investors. "The integrity of our capital markets depend heavily on the efficacy and accuracy of our financial accounting standards," said Stearns. "The key question before us in the subcommittee is whether current accounting standards, in light of Enron, are deficient."
STEARNS HOLDING HEARING ON THE STATE OF THE U.S. TOURISM INDUSTRY
WASHINGTON, OCT. 16, 2001 Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the Commerce, Trade & Consumer Protection Subcommittee, held a hearing on the State of the U.S. Tourism Industry. Travel and tourism is a $600-billion industry employing more than 17 million Americans, said Stearns. The industry brought some $20.9 billion in visitor spending to my home area of Central Florida.
