WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today after the Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Ronald A. Silkworth ruled that state Elections Administrator Linda Lamone can continue to run the office.
"I am pleased that Judge Silkworth recognized how absolutely critical it is that Linda Lamone continue her role as Elections Administrator so as not to disrupt our state's election process two months before one of our nation's most important elections.
"It is unbelievable that the Board would attempt to put our election system at risk by taking this unjustified action and I still await very substantive reasons for their charges.
"Ms. Lamone's nationally-respected record of achievement, and seven years of dedicated service to improve elections in our state speaks for itself. The voters of Maryland deserve to know their election system will not be compromised by partisan politics, especially this close to the election."
