Washington, DC – Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) released the following statement in commemoration of Veterans Day, which was observed on Saturday, November 11:
“Today we honor the brave men and women who have honored this nation by serving in our Armed Forces. On Veterans Day, all Americans are reminded that we are privileged to live in a free society, and we owe that freedom to the courage and sacrifice of our veterans.
“We know that liberty, if not defended, can be lost. Our veterans have proudly displayed their willingness to protect our freedom and to keep our nation safe and secure. We also salute the members of our military who are currently confronting our adversaries abroad. Today is a day for all Americans to say ‘thank you’ to those who stand and have stood between us and danger.
“As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I am committed to further honoring our veterans by ensuring they receive the benefits they deserve and by providing Americans currently serving overseas with every possible advantage to ensure our troops have the tools they need.” |
