Shays listens as Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia discusses the benefits of the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan for Norwalk residents over age 65. With the Connecticut Department of Social Services, Shays and Moccia hosted a briefing on the benefit at the Norwalk Hospital on April 10.

Shays joins Senators Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (D-IL) for the introduction of the Child Nutrition Promotion and School Lunch Act Press Conference, which updates school nutrition standards for foods sold at school outside of the cafeteria. "We need to help children learn good eating habits early which they can carry through their lives," Shays said. Click here to learn more about the legislation.

July 19th, Shays was honored with a Congressional Steward of Endangered Species Award for his support of the Endangered Species Act. “Congressman Shays has been a stalwart leader in protecting endangered wildlife in the United States and internationally,” said Susan Holmes, senior legislative representative at Earthjustice. “We are grateful to him for upholding strong protections for endangered species and the special places they call home.”

Senator Joe Lieberman, along with Senator Chris Dodd and Representatives Christopher Shays and Rosa DeLauro announce an agreement reached by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the state of New York that will permit the long-delayed dredging of Norwalk Harbor to move forward this year.

Griswold v. Connecticut may be 40 years old today, but the issues it resolved have risen anew in 21st century America.
   
Music legend Carole King joined Representatives Christopher Shays (R-CT) and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) today to announce the introduction of the bipartisan Rockies Prosperity Act, formerly the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, which seeks to save taxpayers money and create jobs while maintaining the integrity of uniquely valuable American lands.
