Job Search Resources Center
Activated as Part of One Coast, One Future Initiative
Washington, D.C. – The Business Council of Fairfield
County has activated a web-based Job Search Resources Center
as part of the JobsNet initiative. JobsNet is a component
of the One Coast, One Future consortium focusing on economic
growth and job creation in the Coastal Fairfield County region.
One Coast, One Future is funded by a nearly $1,000,000 federal
grant procured by Congressman Shays.
"Fairfield County has job opportunities, innovative
programs to train people, and talented workers in search of
employment -- the key is to connect them to each other,”
stated Congressman Christopher Shays. “JobsNet is an
important part of our larger initiative to generate regional
economic development by helping meet the labor needs of Southwest
Connecticut and we are hopeful it will be a valuable resource
for employers and potential employees alike."
Christopher Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council
of Fairfield County added, “JobsNet recognizes that
the region is one labor market that spans many town and city
lines. Currently employers are unable to effectively tap into
the entire region’s labor force, constrained by fragmented
media markets and limited transit options. JobsNet links the
region’s employers, training providers and educational
institutions to assist in the recruitment and training of
employees in a region facing labor shortages.”
The Job Search Resources Center (www.businessfairfield.com/JobsNet.htm)
is a web-based collection of useful information and advice
for those seeking employment in Fairfield County, and is one
of the services offered by the JobsNet initiative. Additional
resources being
developed include an Employer’s Guide to Labor Force
Resources, a Directory of Training Providers published in
English and Spanish, and a newsletter produced in English
and Spanish about programs and events related to employment
search.
