House Passes Department of Defense Conference Report with $8 Million Marked for Fourth District

Washington, D.C. –The Fourth Congressional District will benefit from $8 million in direct contracts funded through H.R. 5631, the Fiscal Year 2007 Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which the House of Representatives approved last night. Congressman Christopher Shays (R-CT) voted for the bill, which passed by a vote of 394 to 22, and fought for funding for Norden Systems and Producto Moore.

“This bill provides resources needed to equip, train and protect the brave men and women who are fighting for us around the globe,” Shays said. “It allows some key products purchased by the Department of Defense to continue to be produced in the Fourth District, maintaining jobs that are critical to Norwalk and Bridgeport.”

The Conference Report on H.R. 5631, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, includes:

  • $2,000,000 for the APY-6 Real-time Precision Targeting made Norden Systems in Norwalk;
  • $2,000,000 for APN-241 Color Weather Radar-AFRC, made by Norden Systems in Norwalk; and
  • $2,000,000 for the Short Pulse Laser Technology for Pulse Laser System Development for Turbine Engine Applications made by Producto Moore in Bridgeport.
