Congressman Moran and Rabbi Butler of the Afikim Foundation display a model of the Holocaust remembrance exhibits that will be placed in over 50 Army, National Guard and Army Reserve museums across the country. The exhibits were created as a reminder of the genocidal atrocities perpetrated by Nazi Germany and to recognize the heroic American soldiers who liberated concentration camp survivors during WWII. The exhibits will be built in part do to a $1 million appropriation secured by Congressman Moran in the FY '05 Defense Appropriations Bill.

Congressman Moran, pictured with Chief Adkins, attends a traditional "departure ceremony" at the Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall. The ceremony was held as a send-off for the delegation of Virginia's eight Native American tribes who are embarking to Gravesend, England as part of a week-long educational tour. Gravesend is where the original English settlers left from to start the Jamestown colony in 1607.

Linda White, who was recently selected to the National Teachers Hall of Fame for her work as an elementary school music teacher, was congratulated by Congressman Moran for this most impressive achievement. Ms. White teaches at Haycock Elementary School in Falls Church.

Trent and Angela traveled to Capitol Hill for the ceremony honoring all of the Congressional Art Contest winners.

Northern Virginia's own Mara Besbris and Kate Shaffer were recognized for their artwork as part of Earth Justice's Eagles Forever Contest. Congressman Moran addressed participants at a Capitol Hill event held to display the artwork and essays of children who participated in a contest to express their appreciation of America's national symbol, the bald eagle.

At a Metropolitan Council of Governments Meeting, Congressman Moran the team who developed and supported the Regional Pawn Database Sharing System were honored for the technology's crime fighting abilities. The Congressman was joined by Mayor Anthony Williams, County Board Member Jay Fissette and other local officials.

Congressman Moran, Maryland Delegate Peter Franchot hold a press conference calling on Comcast to start carrying Washington Nationals baseball games. Comcast is refusing to carry the MASN network, which broadcasts almost all of the 2006 season. The 1.3 million Currently, Comcast subscribers in the Washington region will be able to view only 25% of this season's games.

Congressman Moran views the damage from Hurricane Katrina to New Orleans 9th Ward on a trip to the region. The tour, led by local FEMA officials, witnessed boats on top of homes, cars flipped over in front yards and flooded houses, many destroyed, but all ruined.

General Aviation has been shut down since 9/11 and its closure is costing millions in lost revenue to the region and adding to congestion at Dulles. Representatives Moran, Davis and Senator Allen have been working to reopen National to General Aviation for the past three years and took part in the press conference announcing their successful efforts.

Nearly 100 concerned citizens attended an event held by Congressman Moran and Virginia United to Protect Social Security. The Congressman was joined by Bill Halter, former acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, and Reed Wiedower, a local high-tech employee. The open town hall rally to preserve Social Security was held as a counter to President Bush's closed door rally which occurred earlier in the morning less than a mile away.

Congressman Moran brought particular focus on the Mirant Power Plant in Alexandria, which would be exempt from having to reduce its mercury emissions under a new rule implemented by the Bush Administration.

WAP assists low-income families. It receives funding through the an appropriation by Congress directed to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The system, created with a $1,000,000 earmark provided by the Congressman, gives police the ability to electronically match stolen items with items sold or purchased at area pawn shops.

The federal funding was secured by the Congressman to help the Arlington Police Department combat gang activity and prepare for homeland security threats. The money will go towards purchase of new equipment for rank and file officers, including new patrol cars.
