 What are CRS reports?

CRS stands for Congressional Research Service.  The Congressional Research Service (CRS) is part of the legislative branch of the federal government. CRS, which is a department of the Library of Congress, works exclusively as a nonpartisan analytical, research, and reference arm for Congress. Their sole mission is to support an informed national legislature.

In an effort to provide Members of Congress with timely, non-partisan information, staff at CRS regularly publish and update indepth reports presenting both sides of the issue at hand.  While the public does not have direct access to CRS products due to concerns that the nonpartisan nature of CRS work might be compromised, they can be requested free of charge through a Member of Congress' office.

Furthermore, in an effort to provide information on hot button topics, a selection of CRS reports on current issues of national debate will be posted on my website.  If there is a specific report or information on a specific topic that you would like for your personal use, please feel free to contact my office.

Yours truly,
