in National Statuary Hall

Above the north entrance, a statue called the "Car of History."

Clio, the Muse, representing History, stands in the winged car of Time, recording events as they occur. The car rests on a marble globe on which the signs of the zodiac are carved in relief. The chariot wheel is the face of the clock. The works are by Simon Willard.
