Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Eliot Engel and a group of New York House Members and Senators sent a letter to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham expressing their concerns about the formation of a single Northeast Regional Transmission Organization (RTO). The bipartisan group told Secy. Abraham that “While we do not oppose the creation of a single RTO for the Northeastern region, we do have concerns about how this process is proceeding, its potential impact on New York State consumers, and the need for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to examine other options, conduct a cost/benefit analysis and/or to utilize appropriate rule-making procedures.”
