As a former long-time member of the House International Relations Committee and a current member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, I am very involved in foreign affairs. The diversity of South Florida, with citizenry of people originally from Haiti to Israel and all countries in between, has guided my efforts for global understanding and collaboration. My resolute support for the underprivileged, persecuted and discriminated has helped guide me in understanding the world in which we live and the policies our government must undertake.
