Tax Time Help Available from IRS
WASHINGTON – In an effort to assist First District residents who have not yet filed their taxes, First District Congressman Paul Ryan today provided information about where Wisconsinites can turn for tax help from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
"With time running out to file taxes this spring, it's easy to feel overwhelmed," Ryan said. "Our tax code is incredibly – and unnecessarily – complex and often causes problems even for professional tax preparers. We need to work to correct this, but in the meantime it's important for taxpayers to know where they can turn for help."
Wisconsin taxpayers in need of tax help from the IRS have several options. In addition to offering tax assistance on its toll-free hotline (1-800-829-1040), the IRS offers tax help, forms, and publications on its website (http://www.irs.gov). Tax forms and publications are also available by mail by calling the IRS at 1-800-TAX-FORM (829-3676).
IRS tax help is also available during tax filing season at the following locations in or near Wisconsin's First District. (Please note – phone numbers listed below are for local office information, scheduling and changing appointments only. For tax law information and assistance, taxpayers should call 1-800-829-1040 or the telephone number listed on their IRS letter.):
