Miami, Florida --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is applauding the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) decision in selecting Miami-Dade and Broward Counties to participate in their "Big Read" Program.  The selection includes a matching grant of $30,000 to the Florida Center for Literary Arts at Miami-Dade Community College.

The "Big Read" is a program to restore reading to American culture and they sponsor a book on a yearly basis to promote the spread literacy among all ages. The sponsored book of the program this year is: A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "I am proud that a great local educational center such as MDCC is being selected for this endeavor. Reading is the key to a wonderful world of knowledge and experiences and I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to read and to read often. I know that the college will utilize these funds to get the maximum results for its students and every time that occurs, there is cause to celebrate."
