Monroe County, Florida --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's staff is continuing its hard work to help the Marathon Airport in its effort to obtain screening services.  

Today, Ros-Lehtinen's staffer on the issue, Eddy Acevedo, held a conference call between Peter Horton, the Marathon Airport Director, staffers from the Aviation Subcommittee and the Director of the TSA's Screening Partnership Program (SPP), Jack Wagner to discuss the Marathon Airport's application for entry into the SPP. The SPP is the solution that Director Horton believes would best solve his airport's problems.

During this conference call, Ros-Lehtinen's staff, the staffers from the Aviation Subcommittee and Director Horton notified the TSA that the Marathon Airport will submit its application to enter the SPP.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "I have said time and again that we will exhaust all possible avenues until we get screening services to Marathon Airport. I do not wish to over promise but we are on the right path to get concrete answers from the TSA. The great thing about this is that both the local and Federal governments are acting in unison to make sure that our efforts are coordinated and powerful."
