Hoyer Announces Federal Funds for Gateway Arts District

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY - Congressman Steny Hoyer today presented $200,000 to the Gateway Community Development Corporation, which he secured for the Gateway Arts District in Mt. Rainier. The Gateway Arts District project is a major renovation project that runs along the Route 1 Corridor in areas covering Hyattsville, Mt. Rainier, and Brentwood.

Frederick Douglass High School Students Participating in 'Capitol Hill Challenge'

UPPER MARLBORO - Congressman Steny Hoyer visited Frederick Douglass High School today to talk to students and faculty about their participation in The Stock Market Game. Frederick Douglass students have been competing in the 'Capitol Hill Challenge' since March, which is supported by Congressman Steny Hoyer and 16 other members of Congress to introduce high school students to our capital markets.

Resolution Passes U.S. House to Allow 63rd Annual Greater Washington Soap Box Derby

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today on a resolution he sponsored to permit the 63rd race of the "Greater Washington Soap Box Derby" to take place on the grounds of the United States Capitol. Hoyer Urges House of Representatives to Protect Retirement Benefits of Military Widows

WASHINGTON, DC - Last night, Congressman Steny Hoyer signed a petition to force the full House of Representatives to consider H.R. 548, the Survivor Benefits Improvement Act; a bipartisan proposal to immediately end the benefit reduction received by a veteran's spouse when they turn 62 and protect the retirement benefits earned by military retirees.
