District Map, Click for a larger versionThe Eighth District of Georgia consists of 18 counties stretching from Douglasville and Carrollton south to Columbus, then east to Macon, and back north to south Rockdale County. When the district was originally drawn in 2001, it contained over 625,000 people, and quite a few of the fastest growing counties in America are located in the Eighth.

The median household income for the Eighth in 1999 was $52,406, and most of the individuals living in the Eighth had a commute time of longer than 30 minutes to get to work.

Beef cattle is the major agriculture interest in the Eighth, along with poultry.
