Congressman Garrett Looking for D-Day Veterans

Jubilee of Liberty Medal

Paramus, NJ, Sep 13, 2005 - Representative Scott Garrett (NJ-5) will be holding a special medal ceremony on Thursday, November 10, 2005 to honor D-Day veterans.  At the ceremony, Rep. Garrett will be presenting the Normandy Service Medal, also called the Jubilee of Liberty, to veterans of the D-Day invasion and surviving family members.

Rep. Garrett has secured a limited number of these medals and is asking all D-Day veterans who have not yet received this special medal to contact his office so they may be properly honored for their service.  If you are a veteran who served in Normandy during the summer of 1944, or are a friend or a family member of a D-Day veteran, please call Rep. Garrett’s Paramus office at 201-712-0330 or his Newton office at 973-300-2000.  Proof of discharge is required, so kindly have discharge papers handy.  Information will be provided by Congressman Garrett’s office on how to participate and receive these medals.

Veterans or their families must contact Rep. Garrett’s office by October 17 in order to be able to participate in this special ceremony.
