The Legislative Corner is devoted to helping you gather information regarding legislation and issues of interest to you. If you need any assistance in this area, you should also feel free to call one of our offices.
The Library of Congress maintains a Web site containing copies of bills and resolutions which have been introduced in the House or Senate along with their current status. Referred to as “THOMAS” after our 3rd President, the Web site can be searched by the bill or resolution number (such as “H.R. ___,” “S. ___,” or “H.Res. ___”) as well as by key words. To see those bills and resolutions that I have introduced or cosponsored during the 109th Congress, use the links to the left. To keep track of active legislation currently being debated in Congress, please visit www.senate.gov/bills.
If you are interested in finding out more about the legislative process, the House of Representatives Web site contains information on its “Tying It All Together” page. In addition, links are located to the left to keep you up-to-date on the House schedule, the most recent House floor proceedings, and recorded votes in the House. Explanations for many of my votes can be found in the Newsroom.
Posted on the right are various reports from the Congressional Research Service (CRS), a highly-respected, non-partisan branch of the Library of Congress. Check back frequently to see what new or updated materials have been placed in the CRS box.
Finally, a list of the House committees and subcommittees on which I serve follows. You may want to check the Web sites of these committees on a regular basis to stay posted on their activities. The House of Representatives provides links to the Web sites of all committees.
