Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that she secured $19.2 million in the Interior Appropriations Bill for the Presidio Trust. The funding will allow the Trust to continue to restore and enhance the natural, recreational, and cultural resources of the Presidio. “This funding supports the Presidio in the coming year and brings it one step closer to achieving self-sufficiency,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi announced the following projects also received funds:
- $1 million for the National Hispanic Healthy Farmworkers Initiative. Funding will support the Self Reliance Foundation’s efforts to educate Spanish-speaking farm workers nationwide about occupational safety and proper identification and handling of pesticides.
- $700,000 for the Outer Mission District Flood Control Project. This project is part of San Francisco’s effort to replace and improve sewer systems in neighborhoods at risk for severe flooding.
- $250,000 for Angel Island Immigration Station Hospital Building Renovation. Funding has been awarded through the Save America’s Treasures program to rehabilitate Angel Island’s historic Hospital Building, which will serve as a museum and genealogical research facility when rehabilitation from water damage is completed.
The House passed the bill last night by a vote of 293 to 128. The Senate must now approve the legislation before it can be signed into law by the President.
