Service Academy AppointmentsEvery United States Senator has the opportunity to nominate candidates for each of the following academies: the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. United States Senators do not nominate candidates for the Coast Guard Academy; these appointments are handled by the Academy itself. InternshipsThank you for inquiring about the internship program in my United States Senate offices. Your interest in politics and public policy is commendable. My office receives an overwhelming number of applications from many highly qualified students, which makes the selection process very difficult. I encourage you to formally apply for an internship by completing the application that is available on-line. Thank you. Please note: Due to enhanced security procedures, mail delivery to the Capitol complex is delayed by approximately three (3) weeks. Applicants are asked to send only one application either by mail or by fax. Because of the number of applications my office receives, my staff members are not able to return calls to confirm receipt of applications.
