Rep. Gerlach Announces NEA Grants for District Organizations

Washington, Dec 5, 2005 -

Congressman Jim Gerlach proudly announced that two 6th District organizations had received grants totaling nearly $60,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts. The People’s Light & Theatre Company in Malvern received a grant for $38,000 while the Foundation for the Reading Public Museum received a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The People’s Light and Theatre Company of Malvern will be using the grant to support the commissioning and initial development of new plays to be adapted from various award-winning young adult books. While the Foundation for the Reading Public Museum will use its grant to support a traveling exhibition of the work of American artist Keith Haring (1958 – 1990).

As part of the NEA’s first major round of FY 2006 grants, the matching grants announced today help support projects that involve the creation and presentation of artistic work – both new and established. Projects include commissions, residencies, rehearsals, workshops, performances, exhibitions, publications, festivals and training programs.

Organizations interested in applying for a NEA grant are encouraged to visit www.arts.gov.
