"The proposed renovation will improve the safety and accessibility for pedestrians and bicyclists to three of the most magnificent institutions in Brooklyn: the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Brooklyn Public's Central Library," Congressman Owens said. This section of Eastern Parkway, the oldest six-lane parkway built in the world, will be restored to its grandeur, which include historic lighting, World's Fair benches, new traffic lights and other infrastructure improvements.
