OWENS DELIVERS OVER $1 MILLION
TOWARD RECONSTRUCTION OF PROSPECT PARK RINK

BROOKLYN, NY -- Congressman Major Owens announced a $1.05 million project in federal funds for the Prospect Park Alliance for further restoration and preservation of Brooklyn's premier recreation and cultural resource.

“We are pleased to contribute in any way possible to the miracle-making reconstruction agenda of Tupper Thomas. This appropriation is one small step toward the building of a more magnificent Prospect Park and a world class Brooklyn community. This restoration and renovation is a shining example of a truly authentic partnership between the federal government and an active Brooklyn citizenry," Owens said.

One of Prospect Park’s defining symbols is ice skating. Wollman Rink, now over four decades old must be replaced. This funding will advance development of a new Lakeside Center, with a brand new rink, visitor area, café and catering hall, and also increase employment opportunities in the Central Brooklyn community.
