Washington, Sep 12 - This week, Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (CO-04) was honored as a Friend of Farm Bureau, given by Colorado’s largest agricultural organization. Musgrave received this award as a result of her pro-farm and ranch voting record over the past two years in the U.S. House of Representatives. She scored 100 percent.

“As a resident of rural Colorado, I have worked hard to advocate for farmers and ranchers. The U.S. House is naturally filled with a majority of lawmakers from urban areas, which makes it even more critical to take tough stands on behalf of agriculture,” said Musgrave. “They do not always understand the ripple effect that occurs if our nation’s food producers are hamstringed by poor federal policies, they are ultimately impacted as well. I am honored to receive Farm Bureau’s award and appreciate their recognition.”

Colorado Farm Bureau President Alan Foutz praised Musgrave for standing up for Colorado agriculture in the nation’s capitol, stating, “Representative Musgrave is a leader for Colorado with a perfect voting record on key agricultural issues such as the passage of comprehensive national energy policy, workable and effective immigration reform, key agricultural trade and tax reform.”

This is the highest award given to lawmakers by the Farm Bureau. Congresswoman Musgrave won this award after being nominated by Colorado’s chapter of Farm Bureau. She was given this award at the end of the last Congress as well, during her first term.

Musgrave has been an active member of the House Committee on Agriculture, and has dedicated much of her time addressing drought relief, crop insurance policies, international trade barriers, re-authorization of the farm bill, animal diseases, agricultural research, land conservation, tax relief, private property rights, immigration reform, and promoting renewable energy resources.
