Air Force Reserve Pipe Band to march in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga -- With the eyes of millions of Americans on them, members of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Pipe Band will perform this year in one of the country's most recognizable Thanksgiving Day parades.
The Air Force Reserve bagpipers will march in the 80th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Stepping out with them will be members of the Air Force Academy Band, Cadet Honor Guard and Cadet Flag Squadron.

Remains identified as Air Force reservist
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Remains discovered by a fishing vessel off the California coast have been positively identified as that of an Air Force reservist and passenger on the King 56 cargo aircraft that crashed into the Pacific Ocean 10 years ago.
Staff Sgt. Jonathan R. Leonard was on board King 56, an HC-130 aircraft, when it went down Nov. 22, 1996. Ten other members of the 939th Rescue Wing were on board. Only one crewmember survived.

Civlian pilots learn about Grissom
GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- It's not usual for aircraft to land and takeoff from Grissom's runway. However, in October military aircrews in air refueling, fighter and cargo aircraft planes were not the only aviators coming and going here.
More than 100 people traveling in 49 privately owned planes came to the base to participate in a "civilian fly-in" to promote flying safety and to help civilian pilots who fly in the region.

Reservist named top Air Force female athlete
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Air Force Services selected an individual mobilization augmentee as the Air Force Female Athlete of the Year for 2006.
Capt. Linda Jeffery is a services officer in the 314th Services Squadron, Little Rock AFB, Ark. Her award recognizes her accomplishments in golf from Oct. 1, 2005, to Sept. 30, 2006.

Health care for reservists highlights defense bill
WASHINGTON -- In addition to a 2.2 percent across-the-board pay raise, Air Force reservists can look forward to better health care options in 2007.
Starting Oct. 1, drilling reservists can enroll in the new Tricare Standard for Selected Reserve health plan. They pay 28 percent of the premiums. The federal government picks up the rest of the tab.

Air Force to establish active associate unit at Scott
WASHINGTON -- As part of the Air Force Total Force Integration initiatives, the Air Force will establish an active associate unit with Air Force Reserve Command's 932nd Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., in 2007.
The Air Force Reserve unit will receive three C-40 aircraft the same year.

Air Force Reserve: Diversity is more than skin deep
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- More than 200 Air Force Reserve people converged on Colorado Springs Oct. 25-27 and then headed back to their home bases with ideas for improving their local Human Resources Development Councils.
Air Force Reserve Command's HRDC hosted a three-day workshop in downtown Colorado Springs, which attracted participants from around the country. The councils advise commanders and make recommendations on anything related to their people.
