CONGRESSMAN NEAL WELCOMES FEDERAL DISASTER AID FOR MASSACHUSETTS

Will provide relief for affected individuals, businesses and communities

WASHINGTON - Congressman Richard E. Neal released the followong statement after a federal disaster declaration was issued by the White House this morning. On October 22nd, Neal visited flood ravaged towns in western and central Massachusetts to assess the damage. He has joined his colleagues in the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation on several occasions in asking President Bush and Acting FEMA Director David Paulison for the disaster declaration. He also spoke to Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healy yesterday to enlist her support.

"I am very pleased that this disaster assistance has been granted for the citizens of Massachusetts. Having seen the damage firsthand, I know how important this relief will be for families, businesses and communities. They need help. And this declaration will go a long way toward repairing the damage suffered in the October floods," said Congressman Neal.
