Congressman Murtha highly encourages all veterans who have supported our military efforts from across Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District to participate in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project by recording their memories and sharing their personal letters, diaries and photographs form their war experiences.
The effort is being lead nationally by the Library of Congress American Folklife Center. Locally Jack is working with California University of Pennsylvania and Westsylvania Heritage Partners (affiliated with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Heritage Preservation Commission) to compile and catalog the information as part of regional project that forwards it to the Library of Congress. You can mail material to Westsylvania Heritage at:

Or you can reach them at (814) 696-9380, or via email at information@westsylvania.org

Our veterans, and those who served in support of them, have been a part of the history of this great Nation, especially if they served during war-time. We need to preserve that history in all its richness, and that means we need to safeguard the stories of those who served. History is like a cloth, woven from the threads of countless individual stories.
