Education Reform

I know firsthand how hard New Mexico's teachers and administrators work and understand how supportive communities, like those in the Second District, create an environment in which our children are encouraged to learn.

The "No Child Left Behind Act," which was passed shortly before I entered Congress, is an important step toward true reform. The bill grants state and local school officials more flexibility, funds programs that work, expands parental options and holds schools accountable for results. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that our laws will benefit the children of New Mexico.
