Very few Federal Holidays hold the same importance as Veteran’s Day. On this day, we pay tribute and respect to the brave men and women who have put their lives on the line to ensure that other Americans wouldn’t have to. Some of these men and women have experienced horror that many of us cannot fully grasp. Many have been shot at, some have been wounded, others have seen friends succumb to the tragic realities of war and not make it home, and yet they continued their bravery and their resolve to defend the interests of our nation both domestic and abroad.
The faces of today’s vets are men and women of all ages, races, and backgrounds. They have fought in every war since World War II, and they know first hand the price of freedom. Many of these heroes are currently returning from the
Middle East
, hanging up their uniforms for the last time but will always wear the badges of their pride, determination, and courage.
Vets have made sacrifices for the betterment of our nation and our world. They have fought on the front lines, they have monitored intelligence, and they have served on land, air, and sea. These men and women are true American patriots. This Veteran’s Day, take the time to thank them. They have earned it. |
