Washington, DC - Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement regarding the claims by North Korea that they had successfully tested an underground nuclear device.

“The report of a successful underground nuclear test in North Korea is extremely troubling – a hostile event that reshapes the geopolitical dynamic of the region,” said Price. “North Korea’s blatant provocation and defiance of the world community is destabilizing and unhelpful. Swift action by the U.N. Security Council is imperative. Both a short term and long term strategy must be employed by the United States and the international community.”

“I call on all my colleagues in the House and Senate to rightfully condemn this action by North Korea. We must act strategically to encourage responsible behavior by North Koreans who are interested in positive international relations.”
