Price Applauds Signing of Border Fence Bill

Washington, DC - Representative Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement today after the President signed the Secure Fence Act. The new law also includes Rep. Price’s plan to provide accountability to ensure control of the border.

“I’ve been to the border and our border patrol agents are doing all they can, but they need the full backing of the Federal government,” Price said. “The border patrol needs resources, infrastructure and personnel - so that we may clearly say with word and action - do not blatantly disregard American law by coming across our border illegally. It also represents a victory for the American people. House Republicans heard the voices of millions of Americans, and today’s new security measure is a direct answer to that call.”

Highlights of the Secure Fence Act:

  • Includes Rep. Price’s plan to halt illegal immigration by establishing a hard deadline (18 months) for operational control of America’s borders.

  • Creates a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexico border to stem the tide of illegal aliens.

  • Requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to report annually on progress being made to secure the borders.
