Price Praises Definition in Terror Legislation

Washington, DC - Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement after President Bush signed the Military Commissions Act into law today. This legislation authorizes the continued interrogation and detention of captured terrorists while allowing for military tribunals.

“Republicans remain committed to defending our nation while upholding the law,” said Price. “The intelligence gathering program in place since 9/11 has disrupted plots and protected the American people. Today, we have taken unprecedented steps to preserve a framework for bringing terrorists to justice.”

“This important tool in the War on Terror has become law in spite of loud opposition by Democrats. Rather than offering ideas on national security, those on the other side of the aisle prefer to politicize Republican solutions which have kept America safe from a terrorist attack for over five years.”
