Duties of Congressional Pages include running errands from building-to-building, delivering important documents, aiding Members and staff on the House floor, and various other activities. All pages live at the Page Residence Hall on Capitol Hill and school term Pages attend the Page School. The workday begins immediately following the last class (at 9:00 AM for summer pages) and extends to at least 5:00 PM or until the House adjourns for the day -- whichever is later.

Prospective applicants seeking a Congressional nomination from Congressman Gerlach to serve as a Page in the House of Representatives must meet the following criteria:

* Reside in Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District
* Be at least 16 years of age at the time of their appointment
* Be in their Junior year of high school
* Have a "B" or better average in all major subjects
* Be willing to serve as a page for approximately one month during the summer before or after their junior year of high school. School year page program applicants may only apply for their junior year of high school.

Students who are interested in applying to become a page should contact Congressman Gerlach's Washington office at (202) 225-4315 to obtain additional information, application forms, and to find out application deadline dates. Applicants will be notified of their selection by Congressman Gerlach's office.

Application Materials

Each applicant must submit to Congressman Gerlach's office:

* Application form
* High school transcripts
* Social Security number
* Signed parental consent form
* 50 - 100 word essay on why she or he wants to become a Republican page
* Resume of extra-curricular activities
* Three letters of recommendation
