Kelly Obtains Federal Funding Assistance for Road Improvements in Fishkill 

 
Congresswoman Secured Transportation Funds for Repairs to Old Glenham Road and Maple Street
 
 
FISHKILL – U.S. Rep. Sue Kelly and Fishkill Town Supervisor Joan Pagones recently met at Town Hall to discuss the future uses of federal funding assistance that Kelly obtained in the Transportation Equity Act for road improvements in the Town.
 
Kelly worked with Pagones to identify local road projects that qualified for federal assistance under the legislation that was signed into law last year. As a senior member of the House Transportation Committee, Kelly successfully wrote two provisions into the bill that bring $280,000 in federal money directly to the Town of Fishkill for use toward road repairs and improvements.
 
“Fishkill residents send too much of their hard-earned money to Washington in taxes, so it is very important that we get a good return of federal funding to address local road needs right here in our town,” Kelly said. “This return of federal money helps Fishkill make necessary local road repairs without having to collect extra local taxes to pay for them.”
 
Kelly secured $260,400 for the reconstruction of Old Glenham Road, and $19,600 for improvements to Maple Street.
 
Kelly worked through the House Transportation Committee to obtain the funds for Old Glenham Road and Maple Street, and Pagones provided the project details and paperwork necessary for federal funding consideration.
 
“This federal assistance makes a great difference here in Fishkill,” Kelly said. “Safe and convenient driving access around Fishkill is something that Town residents expect and deserve. It is very important for Fishkill residents that their federal and local governments work productively together in ways like this to identify and address their local needs.”
