Student Information

Below is information for students interested in applying to become a Congressional Page or for an internship in Congresswoman Kelly's Washington D.C. or district offices.

Congressional Page

A total of 66 high school juniors are appointed by Members of Congress to serve as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives. Pages are young people who are hired to serve as support staff for the U.S. House of Representatives either throughout the school year or during the summer.

Republican House members appoint 54 of these high school juniors. Qualifications and competition for a page appointment in the House of Representatives are extremely high.

School-year applicants must be a high school junior at least 16 years of age at the time their appointment begins and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all major subjects to date (9th grade through first semester of current year).

Summer program applicants may serve as a page during the summer before or the summer after their junior year of high school.

The Speaker of the House makes final selections for pages. A letter of sponsorship from Congresswoman Kelly must accompany each page application from the 19th Congressional District of New York that is referred to the Speaker's office.

For an application, please contact Congresswoman Kelly's Washington D.C. office.

Internships

Congresswoman Kelly is looking for students interested in government to intern in her Washington D.C. and district offices. Internships are available during the fall and spring semesters and also during the summer.

The intern program gives students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the legislative process. Interns will assist with all facets of daily work beginning with traditional office duties, but enhanced responsibilities and opportunities such as attending briefings and writing letters will be assigned to successful candidates. Prior interns have helped introduce legislation, manage bills, track issues and answer constituent inquires in their preferred fields during their time in the Congresswoman Kelly's office.

A full-time or part-time schedule can be accommodated based on the student's schedule.

Interested applicants should fax a resume and cover letter to 202-225-3289.
