Read Marty's Op-Ed: "It's time Bush gave up his big-money gimmicks"

Congressman Marty Meehan believes that recent federal policies have put our economy on the wrong track.  Almost 200,000 jobs have been lost in Massachusetts over the last three and a half years, and the new jobs that are being created pay less in wages and benefits.  Families are paying more for gasoline, health care, and tuition costs for their children.  In addition, the federal budget deficit has reached a record high of more than $400 billion.

Marty believes that to jumpstart the economy, we need to lift the squeeze on middle-class families by:

1)      relieving the tax burden that is falling harder on the middle-class;

2)      reversing the tax incentives that reward companies for moving jobs overseas;

3)      investing in the long-term potential of our workforce to create high-paying jobs.

Throughout his career, Marty has been dedicated to keeping the federal budget balanced and preserving the solvency of Social Security and Medicare.  He has consistently earned top ratings from the Concord Coalition, a nonpartisan group dedicated to holding Washington to fiscal discipline.
