Pelosi Appoints Tierney to Intelligence Committee

Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today announced the appointment of Congressman John Tierney of Massachusetts to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

“Congressman Tierney will be a powerful voice for aggressive oversight of all intelligence activities, whether conducted by civilian agencies or the Department of Defense,” Pelosi said.  “I am proud to name Congressman Tierney to the Intelligence Committee; he will be an outstanding Member.”

Tierney is well prepared for service on the Intelligence Committee.  He served on the Government Reform National Security Subcommittee, helped develop the Department of Homeland Security, and helped advance creation of the 9/11 Commission and its recommendations.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is responsible for overseeing the U.S. intelligence community.
