Pelosi Statement on Bush Administration’s Stealthy Lowering of Job Growth Projection

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bush Administration’s downward revision of its job growth projection for 2005, from 3.6 million to 2.1 million new jobs:

“Last week, the Bush Administration held a made-for-TV economic summit so that it could publicly proclaim that the economy was sound.  In the dark of night two days later, however, the Bush Administration stealthily revised its job growth projection dramatically downward in an announcement designed to be overlooked.

“The Administration’s cunning in hiding the failure of its economic policies from the American people is just another example of why the Bush Administration’s pronouncements cannot be trusted.  The President and his economic team continue to spin rosy scenarios that show they are out of touch with reality and are incapable of solving the problems of middle class Americans.”
