Pelosi Statement on Comments by Senator Rick Santorum
Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on recent comments made by Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania:
"It is sad that at a time when we need to rid our country of discrimination that Senator Santorum would make such hurtful comments that show disrespect to gays in our country. His refusal to apologize demonstrates that he does not understand how wrong his comments are.
“The Senator owes the gay community an apology, and Republican leaders owe the American people an explanation as to why they tolerate such blatant discrimination.”
