Pelosi Statement on Declassifying Richard Clarke's Statements to the Joint 9/11 InquiryWashington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on attacks on Richard Clarke and declassifying his statements in June 2002 to the House-Senate Joint Inquiry on 9/11: "As one of the co-chairs of the House-Senate Joint Inquiry on 9/11, the statements I heard Richard Clarke give then were consistent with what he is saying now. "I have long called for more information from the Joint Inquiry to be declassified, while protecting sources and methods. I support publicly releasing Mr. Clarke’s statements, provided they are released in their entirety and not selectively declassified for political purposes. "Richard Clarke is a consummate professional and a national security leader in our country. Our democracy is not served and freedom of speech is undermined when the White House and its allies engage in character assassination." |
“ Democrats are united in presenting a New Direction for America, one that will make our nation as strong as its people, one that brings opportunity, security, and prosperity to all Americans. ” Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi |
