Pelosi Leads Congressional Delegation to Mexico This Week

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California will lead a bipartisan Congressional delegation this week to Mexico, where the six Members will meet with Mexican President Vicente Fox, Mexican administration officials, and officials from the Mexican Congress. Economic, security, and immigration concerns are among the issues that will be discussed.

"Mexico is one of our most essential allies. In order for both our countries to succeed in the global war on terrorism, the United States and Mexico must continue to act as partners. We must also work together to stimulate international economic growth and create jobs on both sides of the border," Pelosi said. "U.S. and Mexican concerns on immigration are well known -- it is time to move on to solutions. I look forward to discussing these issues of mutual interest with President Fox and other leaders."

The delegation will travel to Mexico tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22, and will return Friday, October 24, after meeting with President Fox that morning.

In addition to Pelosi, Members of the Congressional delegation are as follows: Representatives David Hobson (R-OH); Ciro Rodriguez (D-TX), Chair, Congressional Hispanic Caucus; Sam Farr (D-CA); Hilda Solis (D-CA); and Linda Sanchez (D-CA).
