Pelosi Statement after Meeting with Weapons Inspector David KayWashington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi met today with David Kay, head of the Iraq Survey Group charged with searching for banned Iraqi weapons. After the meeting, Pelosi released the following statement: “It is clear to me that there was not an imminent threat from weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Saddam Hussein may have had aspirations to develop such weapons, but, as the interim report indicates, whatever aspirations he had ran well beyond Iraq's capabilities. “ “Because the threat was not imminent, there was certainly time for more diplomatic efforts to be made before we went to war.” |
“ Democrats are united in presenting a New Direction for America, one that will make our nation as strong as its people, one that brings opportunity, security, and prosperity to all Americans. ” Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi |
