Pelosi: Bush Education Record Leaves Millions of Children BehindWashington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Bush's remarks at the White House on education and the Leave No Child Behind Act: "President Bush today promised once again, with great fanfare, to 'leave no child behind.' And yet again, the President’s record has failed to live up to that promise, leaving millions of children behind by failing to fund this bipartisan legislation. "Our federal budget should be a statement of our national values. We should commit our resources to what we believe is essential to our country. "Does it reflect American values when the President and Republicans in Congress choose to give billions in tax breaks to the wealthy at the expense of our children? It does not. "Democrats will continue to fight for more resources for teachers, smaller class sizes, and quality education for all our children." |
“ Democrats are united in presenting a New Direction for America, one that will make our nation as strong as its people, one that brings opportunity, security, and prosperity to all Americans. ” Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi |
