Pelosi Statement on the Passing of C. Delores Tucker

Washington, D.C.– House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the death of C. Delores Tucker:

“C. Delores Tucker was a tenacious fighter for civil rights and women everywhere.  Whether in founding the National Congress of Black Women, or campaigning against violent and obscene song lyrics, she was a stalwart voice for justice.  She leaves us with a legacy to continue to fight for righteousness and root out inequality wherever it exists.

“It has been an honor for me to work with Ms. Tucker over the years.  I proudly display in my office the Bethune-DuBois award she gave me three years ago.  Her leadership will be sorely missed.

“It is with sadness and respect that I extend deepest condolences to Ms. Tucker’s family, friends, and to all those she touched over the course of her extraordinary life. I hope her family finds comfort in knowing that so many people are praying for them at this sad time.”
