Pelosi Statement on Israel’s Disengagement From Gaza

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in anticipation of Israel’s disengagement from Gaza:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel as they prepare to disengage from Gaza.  This courageous decision is gut-wrenching for Israelis, but it may be a decisive milestone on the road to peace.

"Disengagement from Gaza may provide momentum to move both the Israelis and Palestinians toward the completion of the Roadmap so that two democratic states can live side by side in peace.  House Democrats will work to ensure that the United States will be ready to assist in ways the parties feel are appropriate.”
