Pelosi Statement on the Death of John H. Johnson

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the death of John H. Johnson, publisher of Ebony and Jet magazines:

“John H. Johnson was an activist, role model, and visionary leader. During a turbulent time in American history, Mr. Johnson gave voice to African Americans when he founded Johnson Publishing Company more than 60 years ago. His hallmark magazines Ebony and Jet continue to provide Americans with images that reflect the rich heritage and spirit of the African American community.

“It is with sadness and respect that I extend deepest condolences to Mr. Johnson’s family, friends, and to all those he touched over the course of his extraordinary life. I hope his family finds comfort in knowing that so many people are praying for them at this sad time.”
