Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today congratulating Barbara Kennelly, President of the National Committee To Preserve Social Security and Medicare, on taking over the Chairmanship of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO), an organization representing more than 50 senior advocacy groups:

“Congratulations to Barbara Kennelly on assuming the Chairmanship of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations.  Barbara’s experience will be invaluable as the Council continues its work to strengthen the public and private sector response to meeting the needs of America's older population.

“Barbara Kennelly’s expertise on Social Security will be critical as we continue our fight to strengthen Social Security and protect it from privatization.
